Post Office Ltd. have announced the results of their strategic review which includes a proposal to close the Bridlington branch.
Bridlington Post Office is an essential community hub, providing critical services to residents, small businesses, and those who rely on its accessible banking options. Its closure would have a significant impact on our town, affecting everyone who depends on these vital services.
While this proposal is deeply concerning, I’ve been informed that no final decisions have been made. I will be writing to Mr. Nigel Railton, Interim Chair of the Post Office, to request further details about this proposal. I want to thank everyone who has already reached out to share their concerns, your voices are being heard. To emphasise the community’s need for this branch, I’ll also be launching a petition to demonstrate the widespread local support for keeping it open.
Since the review was announced, I’ve sought clarity from Post Office representatives. They have confirmed that this is just the start of the review process, and discussions with unions and other stakeholders will take place before any decisions are finalised. Additionally, their code of practice mandates a public consultation before any closure or relocation can proceed.
I am committed to doing everything possible to safeguard this essential service for the Bridlington community and will continue to keep you updated.
