Charlie Dewhirst, Member of Parliament for Bridlington & The Wolds, secured a spot for local favourite Wold Top Brewery’s beer in the House of Commons bar this month. Each month, Strangers’ Bar showcases a guest ale recommended by an MP, and in January, Members of Parliament, staff, and their guests will enjoy an award-winning brew from Wold Top, a family-run brewery in Wold Newton.
Wold Top Brewery, run by Alex and Kate Balchin, is known for its dedication to crafting fantastic beer using traditional methods and locally sourced ingredients. They have earned numerous accolades over the years, including international awards.
Alex from Wold Top took the opportunity to travel down to London to see their beer on tap in one of the Britain’s most iconic bars, where the initiative highlights the wide range of brilliant breweries across the country. Each guest ale provides a platform for local producers to be sampled by the hundreds of people working in the House of Commons every day.
Charlie Dewhirst said:
“Wold Top Brewery unquestionably brews the best beers in our local area, around my constituency of Bridlington and The Wolds. I’m glad to give my colleagues in Parliament the opportunity to sample such a brilliant local product. This has been a great way to highlight the fantastic businesses we have nearby.”
Kate and Alex of Wold Top Brewery commented:
“We're really happy to have Wold Top featured on the Strangers’ Bar. It's lovely to know a beer from Yorkshire is being enjoyed by all! We're grateful to Charlie for giving us the opportunity.”
While Wold Top will only be on tap in Parliament for a few weeks, local residents are lucky to be able to buy it all year round, with more information available at www.woldtopbrewery.co.uk.
